The small Polynesian island called Bora Bora is a place people visit when desperately looking for a temporary recluse and forgetting about their daily worries. There are, of course, plenty of things to do, while there, and here are some of the suggestions;
Since beaches are unavoidable aspects of many vacations, Matira beach is definitely the place to be. Apart from being lovely, it is also one of the only public access beaches on the island. You could also visit Mount Otemanu, one of two extinct volcanoes at the center of the island. This might be a unique opportunity for you to admire something as dangerous and beautiful as a volcano. A pretty place for snorkeling is the gorgeous coral reef east of the main island, situated on a small islet.
If you miss civilization and hectic energy it offers, you can always go to Bora Bora’s main town, Vaitape. One of the interesting places to visit there is surely the Lagoonarium where you can swim with the marine life. While there, you can also sample local food in some of the restaurants, such as Bloody Mary’s restaurant and bar or Restaurant St. James, known for its large portions. At Bora Bora Yacht Club, you can eat your meal while simultaneously observing the ocean. Some of the hotels on the island offer some real treats from time to time, so, if you are lucky, you might witness an exotic Polynesian dance.
Adventure lovers will find a lot of tours to choose from, like Jeep safari around the island, including the historical site form World War Two. You can also drive an Aquabike underwater, which is an exciting experience. If that is your thing, you can also try shark and stingray feeding and encounters, which is something tour companies include in their offer.
